Membership
A frequently asked question is "Must I be German or have a German ancestry to become a member of the Saengerbund?"
The answer is absolutely not. You simply have to have an interest in being part of an organization that celebrates the diverse German culture and heritage.
Benefits of Membership
As a member you will be able to participate in any or all of the following club-sponsored activities:
Choral Singing: We maintain both a men's and a women's and mixed choral groups which practice every Friday night (except during the summer). The club has won numerous awards in various competitions throughout the years and is always looking for enthusiastic singers.
Schützenverein: German marksmanship club
Eisstockschiessen: Outdoor ice curling
Cooking and Baking Club: Learn to make traditional German fare and delicacies
Book Club: Read German authors in English and partake in lively discussions
Skat Instruction: Learn to play the official card game of Germany (lessons given Friday nights at the club) and travel to play the game competitively
In addition, you will receive the Saengerbund newsletter and notification of all special events such as the Schlachtfest, the Taste of Germany and German American Day.
How Do I Become a Member?
Membership is available to all who are interested at a cost of $55 for a single membership and $90 for a family. Applications are available at the club and can be completed and submitted on any Friday night or at any special event. Each application must have the sponsoring signature of one club member. There is no requirement to work at special events or attend a specific number of activities but it is hoped that, as an enthusiastic member, you will support the group's efforts and interests.
